Filipino Chow is a food blog that was brought into existence in 2012 through the creation of the FilipinoChow.com website. This project involved web design, web development, project management, and social media management. The site was thoroughly planned with wireframes, site maps, content outlines, and social media strategy being thought through at the outset of the project. The result was a website, and an organization, that was produced from start to finish through our strategy, planning and ingenuity.
It was decided that WordPress would be the ideal Content Management System for this website since, as a blog, blogging would need to be a strong point for FilipinoChow.com. WordPress is also more than adequate for the rest of the functionality for the website. With that decision having been made, the website design and functionality was developed around the WordPress system.
For the development phase of the project, it was determined that a completely custom WordPress theme would be developed so that all custom functionality and features could more easily be integrated into the website. This is our preferred method of development. The WordPress theme was initially developed offline using HTML, CSS with the Bootstrap framework, jQuery, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL. Once complete, the website was pushed to a live hosting environment.
Since the launch of FilipinoChow.com, the website has experienced healthy growth and expansion both in terms of website viewership, but also social media. The website continues to produced quality content using the system that is in place and looks to enjoy continuous growth well into the future.
